Since 1958, the NSU Art Museum has been the premier destination for exhibitions and programs encompassing all facets of civilization’s visual history. The 83,000-square foot building contains more than 7,000 pieces of art, a 256-seat auditorium, and a museum store and cafe. The goal of the museum is to provide exceptional opportunities to access, learn from and be inspired by the highest level of visual artistic expression throughout time and from around the world. They achieve this goal through the provision of diverse and innovative exhibits, dynamic education programs, and fostering original research and intellectual inquiry.

What You’ll See at NSU Fort Lauderdale

The NSU Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale is home to thousands of inspiring and thought-provoking masterpieces,  including the country’s largest collection of 19th and early 20th century paintings and drawings by the American realist, William Glackens. It also features  the most celebrated and largest holdings in America by the post-war avant-garde European Cobra artists.

In addition to the permanent collection, guests will also be able to enjoy rotating exhibits that feature something new and unique to admire, but only for a limited time! Check out what’s currently on view at the museum or take a look at upcoming exhibits to start planning your next visit!

In addition, the building in which the museum lives is a work of art itself! The distinctive modernist building was designed by the renowned architect Edward Larrabee Barnes. Since opening its doors in 1986, the building has awed architects and art lovers from all over the world and has even become a popular wedding venue!
